New Piece at the Whitney Biennial - Sam Green | Sam Green - Sam Green is a documentary filmmaker. He’s made many movies including most recently 32 SOUNDS, a live cinematic collaboration with electronic musician JD Samson. Previous “live documentaries” include A Thousand Thoughts (with the Kronos Quartet), The Measure of All Things and The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller (featuring the indie rock band Yo La Tengo). Sam’s documentary The Weather Underground was nominated for an Academy Award and included in the 2004 Whitney Biennial.

I am deep in the editing of a new live cinema piece that will premiere on Aug. 2nd at the Whitney Biennial in NYC. The piece is called Don’t Call Me Gay Zelig and is a 30-minute live cinema portrait of Jim Fouratt. JD Samson will be performing a live soundtrack! Jim Fouratt is a fascinating and controversial person whom I’ve known for many years. More info about him here.
